Batty
A downloadable game for Windows
PC remake of the classic game released by Elite Software in 1987.
Includes all 15 levels from the ZX Spectrum version and a further 64 levels from the Commodore 64 version.
AIM : The object of the game is to knock blocks out of the court by bouncing a ball off your racket and hitting them. You advance to the next level by knocking out every block in the court.
GAMEPLAY : Doing the above is not as easy as it sounds, as some blocks require more than one hit and others speed up your ball. To make things even more interesting, strange creatures enter from the top of the court and float around, causing the ball to rebound randomly when they touch it. These creatures also throw bombs at your racket which, if they hit, will destroy it. Fortunately the creatures will be destroyed when they come into contact with the ball.
Some blocks release helpful features when they are knocked out. These must be caught by the racket to be used. Some will only last for a short time.
The features are:
1. Extended racket
2. Slow ball
3. Smart bomb - destroys all creatures
4. Hand - lets you hold on to the ball
5. Gun - allows you to shoot the creatures and blocks
6. Extra life
7. Triple ball
8. Rocket pack - transports you to the next level
9. Bonus points
10. Smash ball - destroys everything in its path

Great fun, and I made a video here! :)
Saw this on CharlieFar's stream last night! Congrats mate! ;)
Thanks Ric...hope your new game is doing well 😊
not bad thanks! ;)
I want to buy the soundtrack!
Agree. That music is pure dopamine.
Hey thank you for this, this is my tribute...
Wow, very much obliged for this and everything you do for the retro game scene as always. Thank you 😊
Superb game. With mouse I would play through no doubt but joystick or keyboard are literally killing me :D
Haha! A couple of the play testers called for mouse support, but I didn't include it because it wasn't in the original game, largely because a mouse was a rarity on a computer back in 1987!
Glad you enjoyed it though 😊
History lesson time. Apple Macs had a mouse since 1984. Atari ST & Commodore Amiga systems had a mouse since 1985. Numerous PC models included a mouse by 1987. Class dismissed.
@nezumi77 - There are third party tools out there that will let you use the mouse to emulate joystick & keyboard input. Good luck & God's speed!
Mate... I am nearly 50 years old :D What you call "history" I call "childhood" :D
First computer was a C64 in 83 if that tells you where I'm coming from. My response was actually for the dev. Mice were not a rarity in 87 (at least in the U.S.).
They definitely were here in the UK, especially amongst 8-bit computers...and if you wanted one they cost a fortune.
It really needs mouse support
Nice game!
Wonderful, thank you for the video!
Nice
