Olli & Lissa - The Ghost of Shilmoore Castle
A downloadable game for Windows
Help Olli find the ingredients to the magic potion and save Shilmoore Castle in this remake of a ZX Spectrum budget game.
Olli and Lissa was an attractive, if notoriously difficult Spectrum game, by Ionis Software International and released by Firebird in 1986. We've taken the game and given it a few tweaks to make it more forgiving and enjoyable, as well as a graphical uphaul that respects the original art.
You must traverse 8 screens, dodging ghosts and other creatures, to collect the items for the magic potion that Lissa is brewing up to make the ghost of Sir Humphrey invisible!
Original game by Ionis Software International. Roger Danison & Jerry Astley.
Remake programmed by Steve Watson, with graphics by Paul Weller.

Thank you! ๐
Nice game. I wonder what is your development environment and language. Good idea to adapt these prehistoric computer games
The game is coded with Clickteam Fusion 2.5.
Glad you liked the game(s) ๐
Wonderful! An absolutely GORGEOUS remake. So beautiful, and I'm so glad you've kept the Beeper sound effects which give the game so much of its charm!
I don't know if you're planning to remake the 3rd game someday but I love that game too and always thought it needed some atmospheric "castle" music, so a few years ago I made some AY music for it just for fun (I'm a game musician). If you need any music in future feel free to give me a shout. I mostly do AY but I sometimes venture into "normal" music.
By the way I like the colour you chose for the sprites. That seems right. What are Olli & Lissa meant to be anyway? Human on the cover of the first game, dogs on the third, while the sprites look more like Mr Men or something! :D
I loved the original Olli & Lissa on ZX Spectrum!
Thank you for making the game just a tiny bit less difficult, though not having to backtrack to the first screen after every item feels weird. I absolutely appreciate you getting rid of the evil time limit, making collision less random, getting rid of infuriating fall damage and making the game-over animation skippable!
Lots of effort went into music and backgrounds, some of the later ones are downright gorgeous.
The overall package is a bit weird though:
Many thanks for your comments and suggestions(always appreciated) and for downloading and playing Olli & Lissa. Hopefully you'll enjoy whatever we end up making next! - Steve
